Nominating period open for Nov. 7 city/school election

Now is the time to file nomination papers to place names on the Nov. 7 ballot. This year officials will be elected to serve on city councils and school boards.

The filing period began on Monday, Aug. 28, and runs through Thursday, Sept. 21, at 5 pm.

Candidates in the cities of Churdan, Dana, Grand Junction, Jefferson, Paton, Rippey and Scranton will pick up and file nomination petitions and affidavit of candidacy forms with the Greene County auditor’s office.

Candidates for school boards must pick up and file their nomination petitions and affidavit of candidacy forms with their respective school board secretaries. 

The following cities have mayor/council members listed whose terms are ending Dec. 31, 2023, unless they have filled a vacancy, which is listed separately. These seats will be on the Nov. 7, 2023 ballot.

Churdan: Joleen Killen, mayor; Nick Christianson, Anthony Minnehan and Colton Morlan, council

Dana: Mandy Sims, mayor; Kellie Madison, council

Grand Junction: Gerold Herrick, mayor; Michelle Hillman and Ken Madesen, council; and Dennis Jacobs, council (to fill a vacancy)

Jefferson: Matthew Gordon, mayor; David Sloan and Matthew Wetrich, council

Paton: Steve Burrell, mayor; Jacob Bohnet, Chris Sprecher and Judy Wilson, council

Rippey: Daniel Brubaker, mayor; Bobbi Dollinger and Ned Johnston, council; vacant,  term is up 2023 – council; and vacant – and the seat will be to fill a vacancy – council

Scranton: Jerald Boyd – mayor; Ashley Squibb, Nici Thomas and Gale Zellweger, council; and Annette Brown – council (to fill a vacancy)

Re-elected and/or newly elected school board members will take office at the first regular board meeting following the final canvass of election.
